The Life and Legacy of Eric Estes: A True Visionary in Snow and Ice Management

Eric Estes was more than just a professional; he was a pioneer whose dedication and vision left an indelible mark on the snow and ice management industry.

From Humble Beginnings to an Industry Leader

His journey began as a teenager in Livonia, Michigan, where he founded 5 Star Lawn Care while attending Franklin High School. Even at a young age, Eric’s commitment to quality work and unparalleled customer care set him apart. These core values became the cornerstone of his success, propelling his business to remarkable growth over 14 years.

When the opportunity arose to sell his thriving company and join Clippers Landscaping, Eric seized it with the same enthusiasm and drive that characterized his career.

At Clippers, Eric’s first major achievement was establishing a fertilization division from scratch. His leadership and organizational skills turned it into a seamless, high-performing operation. With this success, Eric shifted his focus to Plow Right Marking Stakes, a sister company of Clippers Landscaping.

Growing Plow Right Marking Stakes

Plow Right Marking Stakes had been serving Southeast Michigan contractors for over a decade, but Eric saw untapped potential. In 2017, he spearheaded a transformative journey to take the brand national. He built a robust website and a grassroots social media following, expanded the dealer network, and showcased Plow Right at trade shows.

Thanks to Eric’s relentless efforts and strategic vision, the company became one of the most trusted and recognizable names in the industry. Under his guidance and with the support of the Plow Right team, the company experienced unprecedented growth, reaching new markets and earning the loyalty of contractors across the country.

Eric’s passion for the snow and landscaping industry was more than a career—it was his calling. His colleagues and industry peers admired his work ethic, creativity, and genuine care for others. Eric made it a point to uplift everyone he worked with, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The Impact and Legacy of Eric Estes

Beyond his professional achievements, Eric was a proud father of two, Addison and Easton. He cherished his time with them, exploring Northern Michigan, enjoying outdoor adventures, and sharing his love for hockey and barbecue.

Tragically, Eric’s life was cut short in November 2024 after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma cancer. Please help support his kids' college educations by donating to their GoFundMe page or by ordering a commemorative tee shirt.

Though his passing has left a profound void, Eric’s legacy continues to inspire. He was a man who knew his purpose from a young age and pursued it with unwavering determination. His contributions to Plow Right Marking Stakes and the broader snow and ice management industry will endure as a testament to his vision and dedication.

Eric’s story is one of passion, perseverance, and impact. As Plow Right continues to grow and thrive, it stands as a living tribute to the man whose heart and soul helped shape it into the trusted brand it is today. Eric Estes may be gone, but his legacy will forever be a guiding light for those who follow in his footsteps.
